I am Sylvie Makela, Co-founder and Director of TRIBUS URBAINES (TU), and the author of these TU Newsletters where for seven years, I have been telling you our story becauseâŠ
“Your hair is our story!”
Our mission: to depart from mainstream beauty standards and help people love themselves and the way they look regardless of their differences; to promote beauty enhancements without distortion; and to help people recognize and live their personal values every day, without compromise.
Like every year, this back-to-school moment is a time when we encourage you to make a new start, with new momentum and motivation to pursue your personal projects, goals and resolutions.
Itâs essential to have a dialogue between your physical shell and your state of mind. Because taking care of your mind positively impacts your body. And vice versa! Taking care of your body (including your hair đ positively impacts your mental state.
So in this back-to-school season, use your hair as a powerful style signature, like a magic crown, to help you face challenges in your life, to make a place for yourself, and to celebrate your victories.
Here are some good, low cost tips for taking care of your magic crown (your hair :), as well as tips for taking care of your mind.

TIPS FOR MENTAL HEALTH DRAWN FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
My vision is at the heart of my actions. My vision motivates me, drives me, allows me to learn from my failures, and gives deep meaning to my demanding entrepreneurial adventure.
On September 7, as part of the Big Business Birthday (BBB) ââevent at the Royal Savoy Hotel in Lausanne (organized by « Your Business Key »), I will have the opportunity to discuss the crucial role of vision in a project and propose ways to develop your own vision.
If you would like to attend the event on September 7th, talk with me, and get some information to clarify your vision, take advantage of a 10% discount on the entrance ticket using the code: SYLVIEBBB24
My experience as a black, divorced woman and mother, has largely influenced my values ââand ambitions. The racial burden, the mental burden of being a mother and a woman, are part of my daily experience.
Naming and recognizing these elusive burdens is the first step to dealing with them and finding solutions to move forward with enthusiasm and hope.
The psycho-corporeal therapist Patricia Kafwamba Oguey is a specialist in racial burden. In collaboration with the association MĂ©lanineSuisse, for which I am vice-president, Patricia will offer a series of 4 workshops reserved for black women looking for support to live their status in the most peaceful way possible.
Donât hesitate to sign up or pass on the information to other women around you who might find it comforting and useful.
